Pay as you go (PAYG), shown as Extra requests in Billing, lets you use a prepaid balance for requests beyond your plan’s included quota. Add funds by card or crypto, set a spending limit, and use your balance when you need it.
  • No expiry. Your unused balance stays in your account until you use it.
  • Your plan’s rate. Extra requests cost the same per request as your current plan’s monthly rate.
  • Controlled spending. Set how much of your balance can be spent on extra requests each billing period.
PAYG requires an active paid plan. Adding funds does not activate or renew a plan.

How it works

  1. Your available included requests are used first.
  2. Once those requests run out, additional requests are charged to your PAYG balance, provided Extra requests is enabled and your spending limit has not been reached.
  3. When your next included quota becomes available, requests use that quota again. Your remaining PAYG balance is saved for later.
Your balance is stored in USD, not as a fixed request package. Any request estimate shown in Billing is calculated using your current plan’s PAYG rate.

Pricing

Your PAYG rate is calculated from your current plan’s monthly price and monthly request quota: Price per request = monthly plan price ÷ monthly included requests There is no additional PAYG markup. Check Billing → Extra requests for your current rate. For example, at a rate of USD 1.90 per 1,000 requests, using 10,000 extra requests costs USD 19. Annual plans use the same PAYG rate as the monthly version of that plan. The annual subscription discount does not reduce the PAYG rate.

Changing plans

Your dollar balance stays the same when you change plans. Once the new plan takes effect, future extra requests use its rate. Previous charges are not recalculated. A lower per-request rate means the same balance covers more requests; a higher rate means it covers fewer. A scheduled plan change does not affect your rate until it takes effect.

Add funds

In Billing, enable Extra requests, then select Add funds. Choose a preset or enter a custom amount, select card or crypto, and complete the payment. Funds become available once the payment is confirmed. You can use either payment method regardless of how you pay for your plan. You can also add funds in advance, before your included requests run out. Top-ups are manual. Adding funds increases your available balance; it does not change your plan, increase your included quota, or reset your spending limit.
Funds cannot be withdrawn. Once added, they stay in your account for future usage and cannot be transferred back to your card or crypto wallet. Unused funds never expire.

Set a spending limit

Open Extra requests → Limits settings to set the maximum amount you want to spend on extra requests per monthly billing period. Billing shows how much you have spent and when the limit resets. Your balance and your spending limit are separate. For example, you can add USD 1,000 and set a USD 100 spending limit. At most USD 100 can be used for extra requests during that period; the remaining funds stay available for future periods.
  • The limit applies only to PAYG usage, not to top-ups or your subscription payment.
  • Reaching the limit pauses extra requests, even if you still have money in your balance. Any available included requests remain usable.
  • Adding funds does not remove this restriction. Increase the limit or wait for the next period to use PAYG again.
  • Changing plans does not reset the amount already spent during the current period.
  • On an annual plan, the PAYG spending limit still resets monthly.

When extra requests pause

PAYG can resume once you have an active paid plan, Extra requests enabled, enough funds, and room within your spending limit.

If you cancel your plan or return later

Canceling a card subscription stops future subscription renewals. PAYG remains available until your already-paid access ends, subject to your balance and spending limit. If your paid plan expires, your PAYG balance does not expire with it. Return later and activate a paid plan to use your remaining funds at that plan’s PAYG rate. The no-expiry rule applies to your unused PAYG balance. Requests included in your plan still follow that plan’s quota and expiry rules.
